Animal Rights Activism
Most people recognize that we should not engage in activities that cause pain and suffering to other people. Inherent in that recognition is the knowledge that other people are capable of pain and suffering, and activities that cause undue suffering to others are morally unacceptable. If we can come out of our speciesist stranglehold and accept that animals are capable of suffering, we would see that it is as much morally unacceptable to cause them undue suffering.
At present, Guardian of Being undertakes activism along with Dharamshala Vegan Movement but we are more than happy to collaborate with like-minded individuals and organizations worldwide.
Different forms of activism are adopted and executed to ensure maximum reach to the furthest parts of society. With outreaches every few days, we constantly have to come up with creative ideas to expose the truth on the failures of Animal Welfare Laws, deplorable exploitation of animals for human consumption, fashion, entertainment and demand change, and the Inherent Value of Animal life.
Effective activism entails not only well-informed activists taking on Outreacher roles, but also relevant equipment like Virtual Reality goggles, projectors, laptops, tablets etc. to enable the community to experience first-hand suffering of the animals and exhibit truths behind the operation of various industries
Physical demonstrations by activists demand considerable effort from activists as well as funding of props to re-enact scenarios animals are put through. Constant support in terms of manpower and finances is very much needed for regular activism to ensure a public, who being well-informed of the ever-evolving atrocities of the Animal Industry, can embrace Veganism, and eventually Unconditional Love and Compassion.
Vegan Awareness
Veganism, which is a gateway to true, unconditional loving consciousness, must include compassion for humans and their deeply conditioned beliefs before it can be an end in itself. If love (for All life) isn't the motivation behind veganism, then it just becomes another polarity from which to arrogantly profess ego attachment of what one believes to be right or wrong. No change that is rooted in guilt or shame can be a solution. If external behaviour changes but, at core, one remains the same, I can imagine absolutely horrendous suffering being expressed in all sorts of other ways besides harm to animals. True veganism is an inside job that results in outside changes.
There is much concern, debate and discussion over our planet’s fast depleting resources, the increase in pollution, and viable solutions to prevent further destruction to the planet. Issues range from over-population of humans, scarcity of fresh drinking water to the exploitation of the earth’s natural resources. Although there are many factors that contribute to these concerns, many experts point to the demand for animal flesh, dairy and eggs, as a significant contributing factor. Over the last 80 years, factory farming of animals has become one of the biggest industries in the world. If most value fairness, compassion and justice, then how is it that so many participate in a system that is organized around unnecessary despair and death?
